Check out this quick history lesson about the Maison’s timeless essentials. Happy Viewings!
Chanel is putting on it’s metiers d’art show in New York today. Click here to see the collection from last December in Salzburg. While there’s that, over in Europe, the first exhibition of Lagerfeld’s work spanning his career at Chanel, Fendi, Chloe and his name sake has taken off in Germany. It’s a long shot to even think that this exhibition will ever see the light of day in the Americas (how I loathe thee sometimes), but we can all take comfort in the kindness of the journalists able to make the journey (broke is a hot trend amongst students i’ll have you know). The exhibition, covered in hundreds of Lagerfeld’s sketches, takes a look at his some of his earliest of works (his prize winning wool coat in the 50’s) to his present day muse for each of the respective fashion houses. The musée junkie in me yearns to be apart of this so bad. One can only hope it’s not the last (at least in my lifetime) that such an exhibition will be afforded to the public. For now, photos will just have to suffice.
